  5. 2016 edition of Lavery’s Major Symposium in Labour and Employment Law - A critical look at some of the challenges facing the business community

    Lavery held the 2016 edition of its Major Symposium in Labour and Employment Law and it was a great success. About 300 people made their way to Centre Mont-Royal on June 8, 2016, to participate in the event. The plenary session was hosted by Nicolas Joubert and Guy Lavoie, partners in the Lavery’s Labour and Employment Law group. On this occasion, attendees got to participate in various workshops presented by Dave Bouchard, Jean Boulet, Élodie Brunet, Brittany Carson, Norman A. Dionne, Josée Dumoulin, Carl Lessard, Josiane L’Heureux, Zeïneb Mellouli, Véronique Morin and François Parent. Speakers addressed many different subjects, such as best practices in recruiting, in employment termination and in disability management; in psychological harassment, in pension plans and lessons we can learn about labour and employment law after forty years of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

  6. Four Lavery lawyers speak at Effects Mtl 2015

    On June 10, 2015, at the Mont-Royal Centre, took place Effects Mtl 2015, an international business convention which aims to showcase the province of Quebec and support the VFX and animation sector. Nicolas Joubert, Nadine Landry, Catherine Maheu and Norman A. Dionne, partners at Lavery, gave a conference to over 100 participants entitled “Pitfalls to avoid in recruitment of foreign talent”, which discussed the best practices to avoid bad surprises, delays and reduce costs, as well as the important distinctions between contracts of employment and contracts for services, and the most efficient means to protect intellectual property.   7. 2015 edition of Lavery’s Major Symposium in Labour and Employment Law– a great success!

    Lavery held the 2015 edition of its Major Symposium in Labour and Employment Law and it was a great success. More than 250 people made their way to Centre Mont-Royal on April 15, 2015 to participate in this event hosted by Ms. Catherine Maheu, partner and coordinator of Lavery’s Labour and Employment Law group. On this occasion, attendees got to participate in various workshops presented by Jean Boulet, Zeïneb Mellouli, Michel Gélinas, Josiane L’Heureux, Norman A. Dionne, Nicolas Joubert, Danielle Gauthier, Josée Dumoulin et François Parent. Speakers addressed many different subjects, starting with a retrospective of decisions of interest in that field, as well as presentations regarding a variety of problems that can arise in the workplace.

  8. Norman A. Dionne of Lavery gives a conference on IT risk management and prevention in the workplace

    On December 5, in Lavery’s Conference Center, Mr. Norman A. Dionne, a partner in Lavery’s Labour and Employment Law group, and Luc Chabot, president of Relais Expert-Conseil, gave a conference on information technology risk management in the workplace in front of 50 participants, mostly HR managers. During their presentation, they stressed the huge benefits of IT, the rights and obligations of employers and employees regarding risk prevention and management and the optimal framework to get the most out of IT integration in the workplace as part of a broader corporate strategy.
