  2. Lavery holds a labour and employment symposium in Drummondville

    The Drummondville edition of Lavery’s Major Symposium on Labour and Employment Law was held on June 15 at the Centrexpo Cogeco Drummondville. Participants attended various workshops facilitated by Jean Boulet, Danielle Gauthier and Carl Lessard. The speakers discussed a variety of subjects, including recent developments in labour law, managing employees with difficult behaviour or in psychological distress, and renegotiating collective agreements.

  3. Lavery holds a labour and employment law symposium in Trois-Rivières

             The Trois-Rivières edition of Lavery’s Major Symposium on Labour and Employment Law was held on June 13 at the Hôtel Gouverneur. Participants attended various workshops facilitated by Jean Boulet, Nicolas Courcy, Myriam Lavallée and Carl Lessard. The speakers discussed a variety of subjects, including best practices when hiring and terminating an employment, managing employees with difficult behaviour or in psychological distress, and renegotiating collective agreements.

  4. 2016 edition of Lavery’s Major Symposium in Labour and Employment Law - A critical look at some of the challenges facing the business community

    Lavery held the 2016 edition of its Major Symposium in Labour and Employment Law and it was a great success. About 300 people made their way to Centre Mont-Royal on June 8, 2016, to participate in the event. The plenary session was hosted by Nicolas Joubert and Guy Lavoie, partners in the Lavery’s Labour and Employment Law group. On this occasion, attendees got to participate in various workshops presented by Dave Bouchard, Jean Boulet, Élodie Brunet, Brittany Carson, Norman A. Dionne, Josée Dumoulin, Carl Lessard, Josiane L’Heureux, Zeïneb Mellouli, Véronique Morin and François Parent. Speakers addressed many different subjects, such as best practices in recruiting, in employment termination and in disability management; in psychological harassment, in pension plans and lessons we can learn about labour and employment law after forty years of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

  5. Jean Boulet and Zeïneb Mellouli give a CRHA conference on recent developments in labour and employment law

    In Montreal on January 26, 2016, Jean Boulet, a partner at Lavery, and Zeïneb Mellouli, a lawyer, both of whom practice in the Labour and Employment Law Group, will give a conference entitled “Recent developments and long-term prospects in labour and employment law” (“Développements récents et perspectives d’avenir en droit du travail et de l’emploi”) within the scope of a CRHA (Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agréés) Work Relations Workshop. In particular, their conference will cover the key lessons from the Supreme Court of Canada regarding labour law and will address the issue of genetic discrimination.   6. Jean Boulet appointed to the Assemblée des Centraide du Québec Executive Committee

    Jean Boulet, a partner in Lavery’s Trois-Rivieres office whose practice focuses on labour law, collective bargaining and occupational health and safety law, was recently appointed to the Executive Committee of the Assemblée des Centraide du Québec (ACQ). Well known for being very active in the community, Mr. Boulet joins a committee made up of seven members appointed by the ACQ on the recommendation of its Executive Committee.

  8. Jean Boulet of Lavery receives the Solange-Dupuis-Lamothe Award

    Lavery is proud to announce that Mr. Jean Boulet, a Labour and Employment partner and manager of the Lavery Trois-Rivières office, received the Solange-Dupuis-Lamothe Award during Centraide Mauricie’s Annual General Meeting on May 27, 2015. Mr. Boulet is very active in the community. He is often called upon to manage business or philanthropic initiatives. Following his arrival at Centraide in 2009, he became chairman of the 2010 campaign and is presently president of the board of directors of Centraide Mauricie Mr. Boulet is involved in a variety of projects such as lac à l’épaule, social delegates committee, Assemblée des Centraide du Québec representative, press conferences, campaign launches and more. He also animated the first philanthropic diner organized by Centraide Mauricie, which Mr. Andrew Molson attended. The Solange Dupuis-Lamothe Award is given annually to an individual who made a difference through his volunteer work with Centraide, on various levels.

  9. Lavery organizes the Annual Conference on Labour and Employment Law in Trois-Rivières

    Lavery’s Annual Conference on Labour and Employment Law took place on May 5, 2015 in Trois-Rivières. Close to 100 poeple gathered at the Delta Hotel to attend the various conferences presented by Mr. Jean Boulet, Mr. Nicolas Courcy and Ms. Myriam Lavallée. The speakers discussed different subjects, from the recent developments in labour and employment law, to analyzing the place social media holds in a disciplinary process, and finally, the study of the extent of an employer’s obligation to accommodate in 2015.   10. Jean Boulet discusses Centraide with Trois-Rivières’ Le Nouvelliste

    On April 24, 2015, Jean Boulet, a Labour and Employment partner and manager of the Lavery Trois-Rivières office, gave an interview to Le Nouvelliste where he presented Centraide’s new identity: “We are community”.     Lavery held the 2015 edition of its Major Symposium in Labour and Employment Law and it was a great success. More than 250 people made their way to Centre Mont-Royal on April 15, 2015 to participate in this event hosted by Ms. Catherine Maheu, partner and coordinator of Lavery’s Labour and Employment Law group. On this occasion, attendees got to participate in various workshops presented by Jean Boulet, Zeïneb Mellouli, Michel Gélinas, Josiane L’Heureux, Norman A. Dionne, Nicolas Joubert, Danielle Gauthier, Josée Dumoulin et François Parent. Speakers addressed many different subjects, starting with a retrospective of decisions of interest in that field, as well as presentations regarding a variety of problems that can arise in the workplace.
