  1. Julie Cousineau and Emil Vidrascu review the recent jurisprudence on civil procedure with corporate in-house counsel

    On March 30, Julie Cousineau and Emil Vidrascu, partners of the Litigation and Conflict Resolution Group, discussed the jurisprudential trends since the coming into force of the new Code of Civil Procedure with corporate counsel. The seminar was held in Lavery’s Conference Centre in Montréal. Entitled Le nouveau code de procédure civile a un an : album de jurisprudence de sa première année de vie, the seminar was intended to inform in-house counsel about the impact of the new Code of Civil Procedure on their practice.

  2. Julie Cousineau Lecturer at the 2016 Annual Review of the Commercial Litigation Case Law of the ABC-Quebec

    On February 17, 2017, Julie Cousineau, a partner of our Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group, was the guest speaker at the 2016 Annual Review of Commercial Litigation Jurisprudence organized by the Canadian Bar Association, Quebec Branch (CBA-Quebec). This event gathered over 50 attendees, to hear speakers exchanged on last year’s case law and various subjects of commercial litigation.

  3. Julie Cousineau speaker at CBA-Quebec’s “Annual review of commercial litigation jurisprudence”

    On April 6, 2016, Julie Cousineau, a partner at Lavery specializing in civil and commercial litigation, as well as construction law, will be one of the speakers at the Canadian Bar Association, Quebec Branch, luncheon conference entitled “Revue annuelle de la jurisprudence en matière de litige commercial 2015” (“Annual review of commercial litigation jurisprudence 2015”).   4. Conference by Julie Cousineau and Emil Vidrascu on the New Code of Civil Procedure to in-house counsel

    On November 25, 2015, Julie Cousineau and Emil Vidrascu, litigation partners at Lavery, gave a conference on the New Code of civil procedure in Montreal and via video conferencing in Quebec. Organized by the Canadian Bar Association (ACCJE division), the conference entitled “Le Nouveau Code de procédure civile changera-t-il votre vie comme conseiller juridique d’entreprise?” (Will the new Code of civil procedure change your life as an in-house counsel?) provided an overview of the practical implications of the new Code of civil procedure on the management of litigation files by in-house counsel.

  5. Julie Cousineau and Laurence Bich-Carrière, speakers at the CAP Annual Convention

    On June 19, 2015, Julie Cousineau and Laurence Bich-Carrière, respectively partner and associate in Lavery’s Litigation Group, were speakers at the Annual Canadian Association of Paralegals Convention, which took place at Montreal’s Palais des Congrès. Their conference, entitled « Les grands aspects de la réforme de la procédure civile québécoise » (The key aspects of the Quebec civil procedure reform), discussed both theoretical and practical concerns regarding the coming into force of the new Civil code of procedure, S.Q. 2014. c. 1. The global trends relating to access to justice, participatory justice and alternative dispute resolution methods were addressed, as well as concrete illustrations of the new legislative strategies in case management, discovery, expertise and legal fees.

  6. Julie Cousineau of Lavery, speaker at the Annual Review of Commercial Case Law

    Ms. Julie Cousineau, a civil and commercial litigation associate at Lavery, acted as speaker at the Canadian Bar Association, Québec Branch (CBA Québec) Annual Review of Commercial Case Law that was held on February 11, 2015 at our Conference Center in Montreal. During this examination of yearly precedential decisions, many subjects of interest were discussed by the guest speakers. Ms. Cousineau dealt with court decisions focused on extraordinary recourses such as injunctions.

    On November 5th, 2014, Julie Cousineau, Jean-Philippe Lincourt and Laurence Bich-Carrière of Lavery discussed the reform of the Quebec Code of Civil Procedure.
