Lavery Welcomes Marie Cossette, Specialist in Civil and Commercial Litigation and Government Affairs

Montreal, March 22,2011 – Lavery is pleased to announce that Marie Cossette, a well-known lawyer and specialist in civil and commercial litigation, government affairs and professional law is joining the firm as a partner. Ms. Cossette has twenty years of experience in representation before various judicial courts and administrative tribunals.

Marie Cossette has acquired a particular expertise in public commissions of inquiry. She served as Assistant Chief Counsel of the Commission of Inquiry into the Collapse of the Concorde Overpass (Johnson Commission) created in 2006, Senior Counsel of the Commission of Inquiry into the Sponsorship Program and Advertising Activities (Gomery Commission) created in 2004 and Counsel for Sûreté du Québec officers during the Poitras Commission of Inquiry created in 1996.

Marie Cossette has authored or co-authored several publications on the operation of public inquiries, the role of counsels in these commissions and professional law. She often serves as a legal analyst for Société Radio-Canada and Réseau de l’information (RDI), work that has provided her with relevant experience in media relations.
