John N. McFarlane specializes in business law and currently practices in our office in Ottawa. His practice areas include corporate governance, corporate and commercial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, purchase and sale of business entities and/or business assets, procurement, contract review and negotiation, electronic commerce, software licensing, software development, information technology outsourcing and contracting, health care, commercial leasing, estate and business succession planning, estate administration, wills and trusts and real estate.

He is currently a director/advisory board member of a number of companies in the printing, publishing, research and development, manufacturing and health care fields. He is also the Managing Director of Framlance Properties Limited, a family-owned investment holding company with interests in commercial real estate and the securities of private and publicly traded companies.

Mr. McFarlane provides counsel to a variety of charitable, not-for-profit and for-profit organizations on a broad range of corporate, commercial, finance, contractual, governance and succession matters. He has extensive experience with all forms of economic relationships and business structures both domestic and multinational.
