Luc Thibaudeau



Luc Thibaudeau practises commercial law, representing clients that include corporations, financial institutions, retail chains and stakeholders in the entertainment industry, whom he assists in various matters relating to their commercial transactions.

Over the years, Mr. Thibaudeau has developed considerable expertise in the fields of consumer law, retail and e-commerce law. He is frequently retained by clients in the artistic and entertainment community, mainly those involved in films, television, the stage and music.

Mr. Thibaudeau excels, both in dispute resolution and avoiding litigation, when handling matters involving consumer law, retail, advertising, competition franchisor/franchisee and lessor/lessee relations, e-commerce, entertainment (agent/artist/producer relations) as well as disputes between corporations or shareholders. He has represented clients in a number of class actions in the field of consumer law. He participated in the reform of the Consumer Protection Act, a process that began in 2006, and is recognized as one of Quebec’s leading lawyers in the field of consumer law. Mr. Thibaudeau represents and counsels corporations in the retail sector who retain his services in connection with various facets of their operations, including matters pertaining to consumer law and their relations with the Office de la protection du consommateur. He has been asked on several occasions to represent various associations before parliamentary committees and other government bodies.

Mr. Thibaudeau is regularly invited to speak at  events organized by organizations such as the Conseil québécois du commerce de détail, the Canadian Institute, LegalIT, the Canadian Bar Association, Ecomm-MTL and the Round Table on Participative Justice committee of the Bar of Montreal.

Mr. Thibaudeau is the chair of the Barreau du Québec’s consumer protection advisory committee, and also sits on the organizing committee of the Round Table on Participative Justice committee of the Bar of Montreal.

Mr. Thibaudeau is a member of the boards of directors of a number of charitable organizations, including the Alzheimer Society of Montreal.
