Shereen Cook

Profile

Student

Upon completion of her civil law degree at the University of Ottawa in the Spring of 2016, Shereen Cook joined the Lavery team as a student. In August of 2016, she went on to complete the Bar admission classes of the École du Barreau du Québec.

Following her success at the Bar exam, Shereen decided to pursue graduate studies in taxation at HEC Montréal. She will undertake her articling at Lavery starting in January 2019.

Shereen is passionate about taxation and the corporate implications it provides. This lead her to get actively involved in her community by assuming the role of Vice-President of the Young Lebanese Chamber of Commerce for two years. During her mandate, she organized a major event to promote start-ups.

Throughout her university years, Shereen was involved with her faculty. She assumed the position of director of the law moot court program: Les simulations de procès - Travaille en Cour, which led her to cooperate with jurists and other legal professionals to draft legal cases. Furthermore, she worked at the Clinique de droit notarial de l’Outaouais, where she had the opportunity to assist clients and deliver presentations to several organizations. Shereen volunteered at the Concordia University Legal Information Clinic and at the Filipino Women’s Organization in Quebec (PINAY).

Shereen holds a DEC in Health Sciences from Collège André-Grasset, where she earned a merit award for her outstanding community engagement. She masters both French and English, speaks Arabic fluently and has intermediate knowledge of Spanish.
