Pierre Bazinet



Pierre Bazinet is a partner in Lavery’s Litigation group and practises primarily in the areas of insurance law. He acts for numerous retailers, grocers and manufacturers, helping them with all aspects of the claims that they face as well as with risk management issues.

Predominantly as defence counsel, he represents his clients in various litigation situations, such as claims for personal injury, general negligence and product liability.

Pierre Bazinet has developed a rich and varied experience of litigation, having led files arising from personal injuries and other damages caused by faulty products as well as coverage issues.

He also advised insurers for the translation and update of their insurance policies in Quebec.

Representative mandates

  • An insurer suffering prejudice because of a belated claim by its insureds who had been condemned to pay very substantial compensation following an instance of defamation (Rosenstein c. Guarantee Company of North America, 2015 QCCS 5672 (CanLII))
  • A security agency sued by users of a municipal beach having suffered personal injuries caused by criminal activities (Laberge-Poirier c. Dastoli, 2014 QCCS 1754 (CanLII))
  • A retailer sued by a customer who sustained injuries from a fall in its premises (Trudel Leroux c. Zellers inc., 2011 QCCS 5162)
