Lavery welcomes three new associates and two paralegals
Lavery is pleased to announce the arrival of three new lawyers and two new paralegals who will bring their wide-ranging expertise to the firm. Gabrielle Ahélo – Associate Gabrielle Ahélo is joining the firm’s Business Law group, and her practice focuses mainly on corporate, commercial and tax law. Before becoming a lawyer, She spent the first nine years of her career as a paralegal in the corporate and tax sectors. “I see Lavery as a high-quality multidisciplinary firm, close to the Quebec business community and local entrepreneurs. It’s what I liked about it right away. The firm is brimming with quality professionals who stand out and work with their clients to help them achieve their goals and grow their business. I decided to join Lavery after meeting with two partners, Étienne Brassard and Audrey Gibeault. I felt a great affinity between my values and theirs. She began her career as a paralegal intern at Lavery and practices mainly in the field of mergers and acquisitions. “As a recent paralegal graduate, it was important for me to join a team focused on mentoring, teamwork, and mutual support to fully develop my skills. Even during my final internship program at Lavery, I felt welcomed and was encouraged to take part in the firm’s professional and social activities. At Lavery, you are welcomed as if you were already part of the family, and everyone is happy to share their knowledge with you. So, it made total sense for me to officially join this caring and driven team when I completed my internship.” - Lysa Laramée Belinda Rigon – Paralegal Belinda Rigon is joining our Litigation group.Belinda supports lawyers practising in insurance litigation, ranging from professional and civil liability to other related sectors. Éric Goulet, Érika Beaudoin and Francis Lavigne join Lavery’s Sherbrooke office
Lavery is pleased to announce the arrival of Éric Goulet as a partner and Érika Beaudoin and Francis Lavigne as notaries in the Business Law group. All three will be based in the Sherbrooke office and will serve the Lavery network. International experience in business law for businesses Working in Lavery’s Sherbrooke office, Éric Goulet will help businesses achieve growth using his vast experience in financing, mergers and acquisitions and in public contracts in Canada, in the United States and elsewhere in the world. As part of his duties, he will continue to provide consulting services to international organizations by relying on the expertise of professionals in the Sherbrooke office and, through the Lavery network, that of professionals in the Montréal, Québec City and Trois-Rivières offices. Prior to working in a law firm, he served for five years as legal counsel and corporate secretary for a Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) listed company active in the energy sector (power transmission systems), in the manufacturing, sale and distribution of continuously variable transmissions (recreational products and unlicensed vehicles) with operations primarily in the United States, France, China and India. Strategic growth of SMEs Over his 25 years of experience in the legal field, Éric Goulet also developed expertise in contract negotiation, cross-border transactions, litigation management, corporate governance and regulation, and compliance for public contracts. With his strategic business vision based on his clients’ goals, he stands out, among other things, for his strong ability to quickly grasp opportunities for business growth and related issues. Working with the Sherbrooke firm’s seasoned business law team, Éric Goulet will support organizations to ensure their longevity and solidify their assets, thereby contributing to the region’s economic vitality. Myriam Brixi one of Lexpert’s Rising Stars: Leading lawyers under 40
Lavery is pleased to announce that Myriam Brixi was recognized by Lexpert as a Rising Stars Leading Lawyers Under 40 on November 25. This prestigious distinction honours lawyers under 40 who stand out in the legal profession. The winners are selected by a jury of law firm managing partners and corporate legal executives based on rigorously studied criteria such as leadership, outstanding professional achievements and service to clients. As a litigation partner, Myriam's practice focuses primarily on class actions, product liability, consumer law and insurance law. Myriam has been involved in complex class actions raising important legal issues. Her experience in these actions has allowed her to develop a thorough understanding of the procedural and strategic aspects of class actions in Canada. Myriam is also actively involved in the community. She was appointed by the Quebec Bar to sit on the Access to Justice Committee. She is Vice-Chair of the Executive Committee of the Class Action Section, Co-Chair of the Citizenship and Charters Committee of the Quebec Branch of the Canadian Bar Association and sits on the Board of Directors of the Factry. Lavery recognized by The Globe and Mail as one of Canada's Best Law Firms 2022
On November 16, 2021, the Globe and Mail released the results of its inaugural edition of Canada's Best Law Firm for 2022 and we are pleased to announce that Lavery Avocats was included. The ranking for Canada’s Best Law Firms was created based on recommendations from lawyers and clients (corporate legal departments). The final list ranks law firms in 28 specialties. Out of the thousands of law firms analyzed, only 200 are recognized.

Lavery announces the hiring of four new lawyers
Lavery is pleased to announce that four recently sworn-in lawyers are joining Lavery following the completion of their articling within the firm. Maude Colpron Maude Colpron is joining our Business Law group and practices primarily in the area of financing law. She holds a Bachelor of Civil Law and a Master in Business Administration from the Université de Sherbrooke. Lindsay Jean Lindsay Jean is joining the Litigation and Conflict Resolution group and practices primarily in the area of insurance law. She completed her Bachelor of Civil Law, cooperative program, at the Université de Sherbrooke. She was awarded the Lieutenant Governor’s Medal in recognition of her strong sense of commitment. Marianne Khairi-Arancibia Marianne Khairi-Arancibia is joining our Business Law group and practices primarily in the area of transaction law. She holds a Bachelor of Civil Law and a Juris Doctor in Common Law from the Université de Montréal. Pierre-Olivier Tremblay-Simard Pierre-Olivier Tremblay-Simard is joining the Litigation and Conflict Resolution group. Pierre-Olivier graduated from Université Laval in May 2020 and volunteered with Épilepsie Québec through Pro Bono Students Canada, work for which he received the Hommage du Lieutenant-Gouverneur award.
