  1. Chloé Fauchon and Sylvain Pierrard deliver a seminar on copyright

    On November 21, Chloé Fauchon, an associate of the Public and Administrative Law group, and Sylvain Pierrard, an associate of the Business Law group, delivered a seminar on copyright to professionals working in the film and television industry. Organized by the Table de concertation de l’industrie du cinéma et de la télévision de la Capitale-Nationale, the seminar was held at Le Camp in Québec City. Ms. Fauchon and Mr. Pierrard introduced participants to the different intellectual property rights, the exceptions to copyright protection of a work, copyright ownership, copyright assignment and the moral rights in the works.

  2. Lavery, proud sponsor of a CCIFCQ event

    On June 7, 2016, an event for the Chambre de commerce et d’industrie française au Canada – Section Québec (CCIFCQ), was held at Cafe Sirocco in Quebec City. Lavery was a proud sponsor of the evening and Sylvain Pierrard, one of its business law lawyers, was present as an administrator of the CCIFCQ and the event organizer. Since its creation in 1886, the CCIFCQ's mandate is to develop economic relations between France and Canada.

  3. Lavery awards $5 000 scholarship to an ambitious young entrepreneur

    On May 2, 2016, the Fondation du Cégep Garneau and the École d’entrepreneuriat de Québec honoured fourteen young entrepreneurs during the first awards ceremony held at the École d’entrepreneuriat de Québec. Lavery is proud to contribute to the success of budding entrepreneur Jean Desmarais and his plan to open a clinic offering neurofeedback therapy and complementary psychological services by granting him a $5 000 scholarship. Lawyers Karine Pelletier, Sylvain Pierrard and Sarah Leclerc were on hand to present the award to him. During the event, the new entrepreneurs discussed their projects and the invaluable training and support they received from the École d’entrepreneuriat de Québec. The $5,000 scholarships were presented by established companies acting as sponsors to the young winners by offering them direct access to the business world through their position and network. The aspiring entrepreneurs in the school’s first two cohorts shared a total of $70 000 in scholarships awarded to encourage them to pursue their dreams.

  4. Lavery at the Pentathlon des neiges Corporate Challenge

    On February 20, five lawyers from Lavery’s Quebec City office participated in the Pentathlon des neiges Corporate Challenge on Quebec City’s Plains of Abraham. Profits from the event will go to the “À l’école, moi j’bouge” project, which enables youngsters from low-income families to participate in after-school activities. Bernard Roy began the event on bike, followed by Chloé Fauchon on foot, Anthonie Vézina-Crawford on cross-country skis, François Bélanger on skates, and Sylvain Pierrard on snowshoes.   5. Lavery takes part in the Salon des ressources en entreprenariat 2015

    On November 19, 2015, the Quebec campus of CÉGEP Limoilou held the Salon des ressources en entreprenariat 2015, an event part of the Canada - Global Entrepreneurship Week. On this occasion, Ms. Anthonie Vézina-Crawford and Mr. Sylvain Pierrard of Lavery held a stand to present and inform the entrepreneurial community on the firm and the Lavery GO inc. Program.   6. Five Lavery lawyers at the Salon Carrière Formation de Québec 2015

    On October 23 and 24, 2015, five lawyers from Lavery’s Quebec office participated in the Salon Carrière Formation de Québec in order to promote the Lavery GO inc. Program. During the show, Karine Pelletier, a member of the Business Law Group, Anthonie Vézina-Crawford, a member of the Family Law, Personal Law and Estate Law Group, Chloé Fauchon, a member of the Administrative Law Group, Sylvain Pierrard, a member of the Business Law Group and Marie-Hélène Riverin, a lawyer who practices both in Labour and Employment Law and Insurance Litigation took turns at the firm’s booth.   7. Sylvain Pierrard appointed to the board of CCIFC

    Sylvain Pierrard, a member of Lavery’s Business Law Group whose practice focuses on trademarks, copyright and tax, has been appointed to the board of directors of the Chambre de commerce et d’industrie française au Canada, section Québec. Since 1886, the CCIFC—an independent not-for-profit organization—has sought to develop economic ties between France and Canada.
