Stéphanie Destrempes appointed to the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the Conseil québécois de la franchise becomes head of the Franchising and Distribution Group
Lavery is happy to announce that Stéphanie Destrempes has been appointed to the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of the Conseil québécois de la franchise (CQF). Stéphanie’s appointment leaves no doubt as to the depth of her expertise in serving franchisors, distributors, retailers and manufacturers. In the wake of this appointment, Lavery also announces that Stéphanie will now be in charge of the firm's Franchise and Distribution Group.

Jean-Philippe Turgeon and Stéphanie Destrempes will speak at the Franchise Expo event in Quebec City
On February 27, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. at the Centre des congrès de Québec, Jean-Philippe Turgeon, a partner and the leader of the firm’s Franchising and Distribution Group, will present a seminar entitled “Create your own franchise system” during the Franchise Expo event that is set to take place February 27-28. Mr. Turgeon will discuss several issues, such as what business concepts can be franchised, the viable operational systems to choose when aiming for sustainable and profitable development of a franchise network, and the best practices to get the most out of the franchise business model and increase the value of your franchise system. Jean-Philippe Turgeon and Stéphanie Destrempes publish an article in the IBA-International Franchising Newsletter
Mr. Jean-Philippe Turgeon and Ms. Stéphanie Destrempes of Lavery’s Franchising and distribution group wrote an article in the September 2015 issue of the International Franchising Newsletter of the International Bar Association Legal Practice Division presenting a comparative overview of the application of the implied duty of good faith in franchise agreements in Quebec, following the Dunkin Brand case, and in the rest of Canada and abroad, including the United States, France, United Kingdom and Australia, where franchise is a significant area of the industry. Lavery on the podium at the St-Lambert Triathlon
About 10 members of the firm took part to various sports during the 28th edition of the St-Lambert Triathlon, on July 11, 2015. This prestigious event, which gathered over 700 athletes, is organized by the St-Lambert Triathlon Club, which Nicolas Joubert, a Lavery partner, cofounded. Lavery has been a partner of this provincial competition for over a decade. For another year, the firm has held its own. The remarkable performances of Lavery’s team needs to be highlighted, notably Zila Savary (swimming), Isabelle Richard (biking) and Judith Houle-Couture (running), silver medallists in the category “Triathlon Women Relay”, as well as Stéphanie Destrempes, Anne-Sophie Lamonde and Charles Ceelen-Brasseur, medallists in the 5K run in their respective categories. Mr. Jean-Philippe Turgeon and Ms. Stéphanie Destrempes of Lavery’s Franchising and Distribution practice group have published an article entitled ‘Franchising in Canada: A Duality of Laws and Culture’ in 2014/2015 edition of the Lexpert®/Canadian Corporate Counsel Association’s (CCCA) Directory and Yearbook.
