Sylvie Bernard is a paralegal who specializes in the areas of real-estate law, financing and financial services. She has been with the Business Law Group in our Montreal office since October 2007. Prior to joining the firm, she worked for another major law firm. She also worked in a notarial firm for five years.

 

As part of her duties, Ms. Bernard performs various searches in the Land Register of Quebec and assists in the drafting of deeds to be published in it. She carries out checks on zoning with municipal authorities. Ms. Bernard also performs searches in other government registration systems, such as Quebec’s Register of Personal and Movable Real Rights, the Bank Act Security Registry System, the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy, the Canadian Intellectual Property Office, the registers pertaining to civil, statutory, penal and criminal litigation and the registers of the Federal Court of Canada in first instance and in appeal. Ms. Bernard registers documents in Quebec’s Register of Personal and Movable Real Rights and under the personal property security registration systems of other Canadian provinces. She also prepares reports on the results of her searches in the aforementioned registers.
