Robert Mason joined the firm in 1965. The early years of his practice were devoted exclusively to trial work in a broad spectrum of civil liability cases. As the issue of products liability became more and more important, he concentrated his practice in that area, initially defending liability cases and gradually developing a speciality in related insurance coverage defence work.

His insurance law practice has broadened to include areas such as directors' and officers' liability and the liability of toxic waste generators. He represents insurers in Canada and the United States and has frequently been called upon to deal with nationwide litigation in both countries.

Mr. Mason has been a guest lecturer for the Institut d'assurance de dommages du Québec and the Canadian Institute. He is also frequently asked to address groups of attorneys and insurance industry representatives. He contributes to the Insurance Law Quarterly. He is a past Vice-President for Canada of the Defense Research Institute.

Robert Mason is listed in the LEXPERT®/American Lawyer Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada in the areas of commercial insurance and product liability. He is also listed in The Canadian Legal LEXPERT® Directory 2011 in the fields of Litigation – Commercial Insurance and Litigation – Product Liability.

In addition, he has been named Lawyers of the Year for 2012 by Best Lawyers in the field of Product Liability Law in Montreal.
